There was one thing I noticed you guys didn't wrap the connector where it connects to the antenna with the rubber tape to protect from water intrusion , I always put the rubber tape and a layer of electrical tape on top of that even though its in that tube. Also you should coil the coax either 1 or 2 times in a 10 inch coil just under the bottom of antenna about 16 inches down. I do all mine that way. It was an enjoyable video like always you guy's create.

Hi, I'm late to this party, but had a quick question. There is already a cig-lighter outlet which you could easily have simply added a duel USB charger adapter to. Why did you chose to mod this supply for something it already had accommodation for?

Of the two diplexers in use, we have the 146.88 and 443.6 repeaters on one diplexer/antenna, and the packet digipeater (145.010) and D-Star repeater on the other diplexer/antenna.

I wonder why automotive manufacturers don't use Anderson Power Pole connectors in their own installations. It is BECAUSE THEY SUCK! They're not captive and they're troublesome. You should NEVER use them in a mobile install.

Scratches happens. Anything you put under the magnet will compromise the antenna performance

Couple of questions. 1. What did you use as a base? Yo keep it standing? I want one of these for pota and other portable ops... im concerbed about wind. 2. What did you use or how did you connect your wireline antenne? 3. Do you think it could support a 2meter verticle lime a comet GP-6? 4. What do you think of it after a bit of usage?

What is the distance between the antennas? Is the co-phased harness using 50 or 75 ohm coax? I noticed you left the doors open and standing outside. As a general rule of thumb I always get inside the vehicle and shut doors duplicating the normal operation. Maybe a little too much OCD on my part.

Phasing coax is individual runs at a critical length into a T, then a critical length to the radio. These would also be frequency/band specific. Motorola and GE had diagrams that showed this for lowband VHF back in the day, but the math holds for higher frequencies. As for the led lights? Get some better non-Chinese junk and those issues go away.

Tip: No need to drill holes in Radiata Pine ‘lumber’ because the screws will just screw in like a knife going into butter! Tell Fred he needs to buy a second cordless drill for his drivers! And he also needs to buy a hammer! And untwist the wire before threading through the hole!
